Following the great success of last year's Healthcare Week, we decided to make it possible again this year. And as promised, the event was organized even bigger and more impressive this time. This year, the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation collaborated with the Erasmus Foundation, and it took place at Erasmus MC, where children had the chance to explore the diverse world of healthcare.
The day began with an inspiring morning where the children discovered their own qualities and learned about the skills important for a career in healthcare. This was a valuable session that covered not only traditional roles like doctors and nurses but also the many other essential functions needed to make a healthcare facility successful. From security guards to recruiters, every cog is important in the larger mechanism.
After the morning activities, the afternoon program became interactive. The children participated in speed dating sessions with professionals from various healthcare professions. It was a unique opportunity to directly connect with doctors, nurses, security guards, recruiters, and more. These encounters provided the children with insights into the daily practice and versatility of the healthcare sector.
The highlight of the afternoon was a series of exciting and educational activities. A fire drill was simulated to teach the children how to act in emergency situations, followed by a resuscitation competition that taught them the basics of CPR in a playful manner. Additionally, the children had the chance to work with Augmented Reality, learning how to care for a patient at the bedside. This innovative approach made the experience even more realistic and engaging.
The event was made possible thanks to the excellent organization by the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation and the Erasmus Foundation. Their efforts ensured a fantastic day where certainly some seeds were planted for the Heart Work Heroes of the future. A big thank you to everyone involved for creating this inspiring and educational experience for our future healthcare heroes!
